This is a new section to the website where I go a little more in-depth about PMU (permanent makeup). Let me know if you'd like to see a question or concern covered here.
Wanting your brows done but don't know which procedure is best for you? At a brow consultation I always get asked, "what's the difference between microblading and machine brows?". Assuming the client's medical report was cleared, let's dive into the differences and how we choose!
MIcroblading
- Lasts: 3-5 years
- Style: Hairstrokes
- Good Candidates: Normal-Dry skin types
- Not Good Candidates: Oily, sun damaged, or mature skin
Machine Brows
- Lasts: 7+ years
- Style: Hairstrokes, Powder, Ombré, Combination (Hairstrokes and shading)
- Good Candidates: Anyone
Each client's skin type, skin care routine, medications, and lifestyle will help us determine the best brow route to take. It it largely up the individual's brow goals first, then I will determine the correct procedure.
Permanent Makeup pigments are made to fade. WHEN they fade really depends on the type of pigment used, the type of procedure, and how the technician implanted the pigment. It also varies based on each client's skin type, medications, skin care routine, and lifestyle.
I always tell my clients that we never really know when they will fade until they start fading since everyone is so different.
To prolong your permanent makeup, it’s best to keep it moisturized at all times and wear sunscreen. Keep retinoids away from permanent makeup and stay out of tanning beds, these will both fade your permanent makeup prematurely.
